A Landmark Vision – Australia’s Best Building, Construction & Mi

Once completed, Waters Edge will redefine the vision of luxury and comfort, providing quality, innovative and expertly designed riverfront apartments to Queenslanders.

Pradella is recognized as one of Queensland’s premier developers. With a 50-year history of innovation, expertise and quality, the company enjoys a longstanding tradition based on trust and financial stability. Pradella, as a developer and a builder, has the ability to deliver a positive outcome for all clients, with control over every aspect of a project. Working to only the highest standards, the company maintains an enviable record for meeting market demands.

Whether it is residential, industrial or commercial, Pradella has developed in excess of 100 hectares of industrial land and built more than 5,000 homes and residential apartment projects throughout South-East Queensland. One project that represents Pradella’s capabilities is the $260-million Waters Edge apartment project at West End in Queensland.

Creating over 1,500 jobs, the Waters Edge development is described as both landmark and iconic. Collaboration between Pradella and an award-winning design team will capitalize on spectacular views, location and a thriving local hub.

The first stage of development, consisting of 122 luxury apartments, is set to be complete in early 2011. The apartments include contemporary finishes, high-quality appliances, open-plan living, and generous balconies.

With a mixture of one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments priced from $550,000 it seems such a small price to live in the lap of luxury. Residents of Waters Edge have access to a host of amenities including a fully equipped gymnasium, 4,000 square metres of subtropical water-scaped gardens, and an infinity- edge lap pool. The position of the Waters Edge apartments is also a major selling point. It is located a short walk from the West End shopping and restaurant precinct, and less than three kilometers from the Brisbane CBD.

Arturo Masci, Project Manager at Pradella, understands that for the company to excel and expand into the future, Pradella needs a loyal and capable team of behind it. Pradella uses this notion when fostering partnerships with its suppliers and subcontractors. “There are two key ingredients to developing and maintaining a strong and professional builder/subcontractor relationship,” states Arturo. “They are honesty, and do unto others as you would like others to do to you.”

Maintaining strong supplier relationships that will result in continuing success and productivity relies on strong communication and understanding. The company also focuses on ensuring that all key players – from the office to the project site – feel and work as part of the quality Pradella team. “The company is an honest, family-owned business that has a core group of personnel. Employees feel very much a part of the company – not just another serial number lost in the crowd,” asserts Arturo. “As for the quality of our built product, we stand behind the product that we build and sell.”

In an industry that has experienced numerous market changes, Pradella has always been able to adapt quickly. While the construction industry is often subjected to high staff turnover and undersupply of labour, Pradella has been able to build relationships that carry on over a number of projects. Arturo concurs: “Many of our subcontractors line up to do repeat business for us, and that is generally a good indicator of the way a building company is perceived in the marketplace.”

One supplier on the Water Edge project that has proven more than capable of the task is G2 Civil Contractors, one of several companies to tender for the bulk earthworks, mains stormwater and sewer, drainage and diversions, and detailed excavation. “G2 was successful based on price and their proven reliability in the marketplace. I had not worked with G2 previously, yet I was impressed with their references and entered into contract with them confident that they would perform well – and they have not let me down,” explains Arturo. “They have bulked out approx 45,000 cubic metres of material, handled material on site for a staged backfiling process, and have established, managed and maintained an effective dewatering system.”

At the end of day, Arturo believes both Pradella and the suppliers play a crucial role in achieving the best possible end result. Without a coordinated effort by both parties, the company’s projects could not reach the high-quality standard that Pradella has built its reputation on. The company knows that dealing with the right people from the beginning is integral, and considering the quality suppliers and subcontractors Pradella has behind them on Waters Edge, the project is in safe hands.
