Cooloola Cove Trebles in Size – Gympie Times

People keep on moving to Cooloola Cove for the relaxed lifestyle, and they are being well catered for, according to Rod Robertson.

LJ Hooker Cooloola Cove licensee Mr Robertson said Cooloola Cove was the fastest growing area of the Gympie region and would continue that trend.

“We counted the houses in Cooloola Cove recently- there is just on 1200 houses with an average of three people to a home,” he said.

“That means there are about 3600 people here.

“In 1996, there were only 417 homes, so the population has tripled since then.

“There is still a lot of scope for growth here. There are roughly 960 more blocks to be developed; 80 of them with water views.”

Mr Robertson said there were a few reasons why people were heading to Cooloola Cove.

“Affordability is the main reason,” he said.

“If you were to go to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast you can’t get a block of land for under $350,000- here, for $300,000 you get a home completely finished.

“And people have been moving here before the shopping centre was built about 6months ago.

“I’m sure having the Woolworths, medical centre, cafes and other shops is a draw-card, but people have been coming this way since before they were built.

“Cooloola Cove is still a perfect lifestyle place as well.

“In three minutes you can be at a golf course, bowls club or a boat ramp. In 10 minutes you can be at the beach.

“It’s a slower pace out here as well- people from the Gold Coast want to get away from the hustle and bustle. They sell their houses for $700,000 and get a beautiful home here for under $400,000.”

Mr Robertson said there were also plans for a tavern and service station at the cove.
